In April and May, my mom and I went to the High Desert Museum almost every Saturday to participate in a workshop series called Into the Wild.
This was a unique opportunity for us to discover the natural world around us and the goal was to spark our imagination and sense of adventure.
Here is a short description from their website:
Adult caregivers with children ages 6 through 10 are invited to learn together in hands-on workshops where they’ll uncover the mysteries of the intriguing carnivores hidden in our local forests. You will work with wildlife biologists both in the classroom and in the field, learning how to identify animals in the wild, how to track their movements and explore how they survive. Then, you will share the stories of your discoveries. Together, you will investigate, research, explain and share what you’ve learned.
As a part of the grant, we had to create a book. The Deschutes Public Library and the High Desert Museum will have a copy of all of the books created during this workshop.
One book created by another family was in a journal format and portrays a few of the activities we took part in during the grant:

We wrote a book in a different format. We learned to draw animals, used a computer drawing tablet and converted pictures to help create our book.
